Owner of Mommsen's Harvest Hills Pumpkin Patch & Apple Orchard in Rice Lake, Mommsen said the pumpkin crop thrived with the area's hot summer weather and adequate pollination. Mommsen, whose patch is open through Oct. 31, said he normally tries to grow about 75 different varieties of pumpkins every season, though not all are successful each year.
Fun for the whole family! Our 40-acre farm, located in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, offers hours of entertainments for everyone! We feature 2 corn mazes, a petting farm and kids entertainment area, weekend hayrides, pumpkin artillery, pick-your-own apples, local crafts, tasty treat, produce and so much more!
- As the leaves change, fall focuses our attention on the beautiful scenery that had long gone unnoticed, Lake Ridge Nursery brings a renewed sense of excitement and joy to the area. The normally green and bright nursery becomes filled with orange and holiday decorations. School tours bring excited children through the haunted house and pumpkin.
- After you find your way out of the maze, stroll over to our Pumpkin Patch. We have 3 acres of pumpkins just waiting for that special someone to bring them home. Come and bring the children let them pick out the pumpkin of their dreams. They come in all shapes and sizes from 1 lb to 200 lbs. In early June we plant the pumpkins and gourds.
There is so much to see and do at Mommsen's! We do not charge a general admission fee, so come and visit our farm and browse through the crafts in the barn or the pumpkins and produce we offer anytime! Admission is charged for each individual activity you choose and we offer various pass options on the weekends. We also have several special events throughout the season that are FREE of charge!
Ever see a pumpkin fly?!? At Harvest Hills we are famous for our amazing pumpkin artillery! Our infantry consists of 2 medival catapults, a pumpkin cannon and apple shooter. If you have never seen this or have witnessed it a thousand times, it is an incredible experience. We shoot the cannon and apple shooter every Saturday and Sunday at 12, 2 and 4. On our Pumpkin Chunkin' Weekends, we showcase them all and shoot each of our impressive machines every hour, on the hour from noon until 5! Come check it out!!!
